Summary

Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are in a unique position to recognize and respond to victims of human trafficking within healthcare settings. This continuing education activity provides an overview of the types and prevalence of human trafficking at local, state, and global levels. Participants will learn to identify key warning signs, understand the role of a multidisciplinary care team, and address the immediate healthcare needs of affected individuals. The course also emphasizes trauma-informed response strategies and highlights available resources for victim support and long-term recovery.

Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this session, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
1. Define different types of human trafficking and explain their local, statewide and international prevalence.
2. Identify potential signs of human trafficking in victims and survivors who present for care in a medical setting.
3. Determine who should participate in a multi-disciplinary care model for victim identification and recovery.
4. Discover immediate healthcare needs of identified victims.
5. Develop ability for trauma-informed response.
6. Learn about available resources for victim service and aftercare.


Texas Pharmacy Association (154) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Continuing education will be provided to participants who completed all course requirements.
