Summary

Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) continues to pose significant clinical challenges despite advances in therapy. Guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT), including quadruple therapy, has been shown to improve outcomes, yet remains underutilized in practice.

This activity will review the mechanisms and key outcomes data supporting quadruple therapy, as well as additional pharmacologic options for HFrEF management. Participants will also explore patient-specific factors that influence therapy optimization and identify common barriers to GDMT implementation, along with practical strategies to overcome them and improve patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this session, pharmacists will be able to:
1. Describe the mechanism and outcomes data associated with quadruple therapy in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) management.
2. Discuss additional pharmacotherapy and outcomes data that may be considered in management of HFrEF.
3. Review patient specific factors to optimize HFrEF guideline directed medical therapy (GDMT).
4. Identify common barriers and strategies to HFrEF GDMT optimization.

At the completion of this program, technicians will be able to:
1. Describe the mechanism and outcomes data associated with quadruple therapy in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) management.
2. List additional pharmacotherapy and outcomes data that may be considered in management of HFrEF.
3. Review patient specific factors to optimize HFrEF guideline directed medical therapy (GDMT).
4. Identify common barriers and strategies to HFrEF GDMT optimization.

Texas Pharmacy Association (154) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Continuing education will be provided to participants who completed all course requirements.
