Summary

Activity Description:
Perception is reality, which can lead to a preceptor and learner living in two separate worlds. This session will explore the critical role of clear, intentional communication between preceptors and pharmacy learners. Through real-world examples encountered by an experiential faculty member, participants will examine communication pitfalls and practice strategies for delivering clear messages, even during difficult conversations. The audience will also develop a personalized plan to enhance clarity in their own precepting environments.

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:

  1. Discuss the importance and impact of clear, intentional communication with pharmacy learners.
  2. Apply specific communication strategies to enhance learner understanding and reduce misinterpretation.
  3. Develop a personalized plan to implement clear, consistent communication with learners in individual experiential practice settings.

Texas Pharmacy Association (154) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Continuing education will be provided to participants who completed all course requirements.
