”ACPE Texas Pharmacy Association (154) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Continuing education will be provided to participants who completed all course requirements.

Description: This case-based presentation will review oncology medications routinely dispensed by specialty pharmacies. The update will include common adverse effects, drug interactions, and useful references for checking the safety of the medication for your particular patient.

At the completion of this activity, the pharmacists will be able to:
1. Describe the oncologic medications dispensed by specialty pharmacies, including indications, common adverse effects, drug-drug interactions and food-drug interactions, and important counseling information.
2. Identify references to facilitate evaluation of prescribed dose, dosing interval, drug-drug, and drug-herb interactions.
3. Apply safe handling of hazardous and oncology medications.


At the completion of this activity, the technicians will be able to:
1. List the oncologic medications dispensed by specialty pharmacies.
2. Identify references to facilitate evaluation of oncologic medications.
3. Apply safe handling of hazardous and oncology medications.


This lesson is an application-based CE activity and is targeted to pharmacists and technicians. This program has been approved for 1.5 contact hour of continuing education credit (0.15 CEUs).
