”ACPE Texas Pharmacy Association (154) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Continuing education will be provided to participants who completed all course requirements.

Description: As the lone pharmacist in the Texas legislature and Chairman of the powerful Senate Health and Human Services Committee, Senator Schwertner will share his insights on health care in Texas, thoughts on the 2019 legislative session, and pharmacy issues.

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
1. Discuss health care challenges Texas faces.
2. Recognize challenges and opportunities for pharmacy in the 2019 Legislative Session.
3. Describe how to ensure pharmacy is a part of solving the issues facing health care in Texas.


This lesson is a knowledge-based CE activity and is targeted to pharmacists and technicians. This program has been approved for 1.5 contact hour of continuing education credit (0.15 CEUs).

Senator Charles Schwertner, RPh, MD
Senator Charles Schwertner is a physician, family man, business owner, and a life-long conservative. In 2010, Schwertner was first elected to serve the people of House District 20 as a member of the Texas House of Representatives. There, he quickly earned a reputation as a measured and effective legislator, working with his colleagues to pass one of the most conservative legislative agendas in Texas history.
