Description: The Texas State Department of State Health Services Immunization Unit strives to prevent disease, disability, and death in children, adolescents, and adults through vaccination. During this session, the speaker will address how the state is moving forward with various immunization programs, policies and services to keep Texans healthy across the lifespan. The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Immunization Unit launched ImmTrac2, the new Texas Immunization Registry on April 3, 2017. ImmTrac2 is a secure and confidential registry that safely consolidates and stores immunization information from multiple sources electronically in one centralized system. This session will focus on Texas children, adolescents and adults, Texas State Law pertaining to Minor/Adult Consent, data exchange capabilities and the benefits of ImmTrac2. Attendees will have the opportunity to address questions, discuss new system functionalities with ImmTrac2 and the benefits to health care providers. At the completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to: 1. Describe vaccination requirements, vaccination settings, the supply of vaccines, vaccine monitoring programs and the tools available to support vaccination efforts at every stage of the lifespan within the State of Texas. 2. Explain the future of DSHS’ immunization efforts. 3. Access ImmTrac2 and understand capabilities of the database.

This lesson is an application-based CE activity and is targeted to pharmacists and technicians. This program has been approved for 1.5 contact hour of continuing education credit (0.15 CEUs).
