Summary

Description: This presentation will give immunizing pharmacists their full 3-hour CE credit and focus on updating them in the major aspects of immunizations. It will also familiarize the pharmacist with post-exposure treatment recommendations for vaccine preventable diseases. The program is designed to enhance learning through interactive tools such as Turning Point, clickers and hands-on administration technique.

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:
1. Identify changes or updates to the child, adolescent and adult immunization schedule.
2. Describe the new 2017 ACIP immunization recommendations
3. Evaluate different questions that have been submitted to the CDE website
4. Determine appropriate answers for the questions that commonly arise.
5. Describe the post-exposure prophylaxis treatment for vaccine preventable diseases.

At the completion of this activity, technicians will be able to:
1. Identify changes or updates to the child, adolescent and adult immunization schedule.

3. Evaluate different questions that have been submitted to the CDE website

6. Discuss key concepts that pharmacy technicians need to be trained on to improve efficiency while incorporating immunizations into the work flow process.

”ACPE Texas Pharmacy Association (154) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Continuing education will be provided to participants who completed all course requirements.

Sharon Rush, R.Ph.
Sharon Rush joined the faculty of the Division of Health Outcomes and Pharmacy Practice as a Clinical Assistant Professor in July 2010. Her focus is on the Community Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience in the P3 year where she coordinates the Clinical Skills: Community Care course. She teaches the undergraduate course “Drugs in Our Society” and the signature course “The Savvy Healthcare Consumer”.
