The CEO of the Washington State Pharmacy Association will share his firsthand experiences in Washington, one of the first states to pass statewide provider status. Washington's experience offers a road map to payment for services in Texas, which passed two bills this year amending the Insurance Code to allow pharmacists to be in provider networks and to be reimbursed for services that are within their scope of practice. This session will describe the enrollment process for health plan provider networks, explain the billing process and differences between billing a pharmacy claim and a medical claim, identify technology gaps and solutions, and describe the essential elements for billing a medical claim.

At the completion of this activity, the pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
1. Describe the enrollment process for health plan provider networks.
2. Explain the billing process and differences between billing a pharmacy claim and a medical claim.
