Hear directly from a pharmacist who has been “at the table” at the highest levels in the federal government. Dr. O’Brien was one of the key architects of the Trump Administration’s Blueprint to lower drug prices and out-of-pocket expenses. He has been part of the conversations dealing with pharmacy’s most pressing issues of direct and indirect remuneration (DIR) fees and pharmacist provider status at the federal level. He will share firsthand the importance of pharmacists being involved in the policy-making process. Come away with an insider’s view on what pharmacists can do differently to advance their public policy goals.

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to: 1. Discuss the challenges pharmacy has faced with its most pressing issues of DIR fee reforms and provider status at the federal level. 2. Identify opportunities for pharmacists to show their relevance in health care with the current landscape. 3. Describe the importance of pharmacist and technician involvement in the policy-making process.
