Preceptor CE for Texas: An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Remediation: Experiential Education Early Intervention Strategies

Unfortunately, not everyone shines on APPEs. A variety of surveillance and early intervention strategies may be used to identify at-risk of failure students during the pre-APPE curriculum and during APPEs. Examples include longitudinal pre-APPE readiness courses, APPE “bootcamps,” and coaching by college-based experiential faculty. Using case vignettes, presenters will guide audience members through the background of setting students up for success from a programmatic approach as well as at the individual preceptor level to implement at their home institutions.

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:
1. Describe identification and early intervention strategies spanning didactic and experiential curriculum for students who may struggle during APPE rotations.
2. Design methods for engaging faculty and preceptors surrounding early intervention strategies.
3. Utilize case-based application of early intervention strategies to synthesize individualized programmatic early intervention plans.

”ACPETexas Pharmacy Association (154) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Continuing education will be provided to participants who completed all course requirements. This lesson is an application-based CE activity and is targeted to pharmacists and technicians. This program has been approved for 1.0 contact hour of continuing education credit (0.1 CEU).
